Microbial communities in Italian "Showcaves"

Caves are fragile ecosystems, due their peculiar habitat conditions, spatial confinement, climatic stability and of high conservation value of their cultural, geological and biological diversity. Our study will focus on specific aspects of the environmental impacts of cave tourism, such as through detailed inventories of the show cave microbiota (bacteria, fungi and algae) and the detection of indicator species.
